Schedule a Clinic!
10/8/2011
There are no local clinics planned for the remainder of the year.  However, that does not mean that the Central Iowa Lacrosse Association will not hold anymore clinics.  If there is a group of eight or more players that are interested in learning the game of lacrosse, CILA will make it happen.  This group can be a mixture of ages from fifth grade through adults.
Generally, these clinics will focus on teaching fundamentals to new players and sharpening basic skills for youth players.  The typical clinic will not use goals due to limited access and transportation issues.  Clinics will contain a misture of instruction, drills, and mini-games.
Because CILA is currently short on extra equipment, it is recommended that at least 50% of participants have their own stick.

Clinic in Lincoln, Nebraska
10/8/2011
I was just informed of an upcoming clinic in Lincoln, NE next Saturday, October 15.  The professionally run clinic will be held alongside the Mid-Fall Classic tournament that Valley will be competing in at Abbott Sports Complex in Lincoln.
There is an $80 registration fee  to participate in this all-day clinic run by NCAA D1 and Major League Lacrosse players.  The online registration form indicates that a US Lacrosse number is required; I will try to clarify whether that is the case.  Greg has confirmed that players will need to register with US Lacrosse:
Yes.  It’s an additional $25 to US Lacrosse
Contact Greg McManus for more information.

2011 Southside Introductory Clinic

9/21/2011

On Wednesday, September 28 at 5:45 pm, Coach Adam will host a free introductory clinic at Mitchell Education Center on the south side of Des Moines.  This clinic will focus on basic skills: catching, throwing, cradling, and scooping.  This clinic is open to boys currently in sixth grade through adult.

This clinic is geared towards high school and middle school students on the southside of the metro, including Lincoln, Norwalk, Carlisle, and Indianola.  But the session is open to anyone that wants to learn the game.  Summer Youth Program participants are welcome as well. Everybody should bring something to drink and wear comfortable athletic clothing and athletic shoes or soccer/football/lacrosse cleats.
At this time there will be two experienced adult players running the clinic.  Players that currently have their sticks should bring them as there are a limited number of sticks available for use.  If interest is high enough, this clinic may be extended for additional weeks.  The clinic is schedule to run for about an hour.
To ensure that we have enough balls available, please contact Coach Adam by Tuesday if you wish to attend or have any questions.  Experienced players interested in helping and/or participating should also contact Coach Adam.
