FAQ

Q. When did the Central Iowa Lacrosse Association form?

A. CILA was formed in October 2008 by Adam Edgington, Zach Zielonko, and Tyler Nielsen.  This website was launched in June 2009 once lacrosse began to take off in the Des Moines area.

Q. What opportunites exist to play lacrosse in Des Moines?

A.  We have a summer league and box lacrosse leagues for teenagers and adults.   We offer a competitive high school club program in conjunction with Valley and the YMCA.

We launched our boys youth program in the Summer of 2011.

We also offer girls youth, high school, and adult programs.

Q. When will the Des Moines Men's team be up and running?

A. We are no longer actively pursuing a competitive men's team for the Great Plains Lacrosse League.  However, we do plan to enter teams in select regional tournaments.   Space will be limited to those selected for the roster and fees will be discussed at the time of tryout/selection.  Contact us if you are over 18 and interested in being considered for our tournament team(s).

We are also examining possibilities for a competitive box lacrosse team.

Q. I signed up for a CILA program but no longer want to participate.  Can I get a refund?

A.  Generally we do not issue refunds for any of our lacrosse programs.  As a not-for-profit group, we run everything based solely on our material costs in order to spread the game. For example, our youth program fees specifically cover the costs of the sticks and balls issued to players.  This is why our registration periods close weeks before our program start dates.

Typically refunds will only be considered in extreme cases such as the player moving prior to the start date or the player suffering an injury prior to the start date that would prevent the player from competitng for the duration of the program.  Documentation will be required.  This is common practice among most youth and adult sports leagues and programs in the metro area.
